The Pioneer

Charting new spiritual territory

About The Pioneer

Abraham left everything familiar to follow a God he barely knew to a land he had never seen. He was seventy-five years old when he started over. His story is the original pioneer narrative: leaving security for promise, trading certainty for faith.

God's call to Abraham was radical: 'Leave your country, your people and your father's household and go to the land I will show you.' Notice what was not included: a map, a timeline, or a guarantee. Abraham was asked to take the first step without seeing the destination.

Abraham made mistakes along the way. He lied about Sarah, tried to hurry God's promise through Hagar, and laughed at the thought of a son at his age. He was not a perfect pioneer but a persistent one.

The letter to the Hebrews celebrates Abraham for living as an alien and stranger, for looking forward to a city he would never see in his lifetime. He pitched tents but dreamed of foundations. The pioneer plants seeds that others will harvest.
